Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) Climate Tool is an online tool that provides convenient access to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA’s) Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications (MERRA) climatic data.
Hosted on LTPP infoPave, the LTPP Climate Tool is intended for use by infrastructure engineers to access the processed version of MERRA data, using different visual features and interfaces such as by location, by country, and by map . The climatic data is available from 1979 to present at an hourly temporal resolution and includes climatic attributes such as temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind, and solar data. The data exported from the LTPP Climate Tool is compatible with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials AASHTOWare® Pavement ME Design software.
iENGINEERING designed and developed the Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) Climate Tool for the U.S Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), to provide its users convenient access to climate data, derived from the MERRA database, in an intuitive and easy-to-use format.
Following are the technology and application domain areas serviced by iENGINEERING for the Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) Climate Tool project:
- MERRA-2 climatic data processing and integration
- Web-based software development
- Geographic maps implementation
- Advanced climatic map overlays omplementation
- Advanced graphs and charts implementation
- Integration with MEPDG AASHTOWare® Pavement ME Design software
